NEW YORK (AP) — Comments on the Carolina Panthers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
___
CAROLINA PANTHERS (28)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 26) — Weren't going to beat old friend John Fox.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 19) — The Panthers didn't expect to be playing for next season so soon.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 30)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 26) — GM out and now the special teams coordinator ... who's next?
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 28) — Special teams coach Brian Murphy gets the gate after a blowout loss to Denver. Won't be last coaching change for Panthers. Could be a clean sweep at season's end.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 29) — The Panthers are the only team in the NFC that has scored more touchdowns on the ground (nine) than through the air (eight).
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 27) — If Michael Jordan is as good at putting Cam Newton back together as he is building a basketball team the Panthers are in deep kimchi.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 29) — The special teams coach just got axed. Pretty soon, they're going to run out of people to fire.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 27) — The Broncos smothered Cam Newton with a pass rush and he took a beating. I'm not so sure he can handle the pressure that comes with this much losing, but in time he will grow from this experience. It may not be this  year.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 28) — The Panthers "out Foxed" soundly in their old coaches return.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 27) — By getting sacked seven times and throwing another interception returned for a touchdown against Denver, quarterback Cam Newton is doing nothing to help head coach Ron Rivera's job security.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 28) — Jerry Richardson says he does not want the team to go west to L.A. Instead, the Panthers just keep going further south.
